by Oonah V Joslin
we’ve started having dinner in the dark
well not exactly in the dark you know
there’s still a flag or two left in the sky
purple magenta wishy-washy green
or sometimes peachy fluffs of evening cloud
float past the orange streetlamps all serene
then the moon rises waxing – growing round
brighter and rounder with each passing day
like a huge dinner plate the sky is full
of treats and tricks a salt of pinpoint stars
feast for the soul and candy for the eye
a time of plenty and of candle glow.

A lovely poem that brought out the colours of an autumn evening with a Halloween atmosphere.
