Snow Party

by Jennifer Walmsley

Feet scrunch on frozen water
where beneath a world exists
oblivious to snowballs
whizzing over red-cheeked
children licking at
toffee glazed apples as
crackles and spits
shoot red hot
dragon’s breath
at billowing dendrites,
spinning down,
down,
down,
onto snappy
fizzes.

Jennifer Walmsley was born and brought up in Wales, and has had short stories published in both women’s and Welsh literary magazines.
