Not Gypsies, Pikeys, Romanies nor thieves,
But,
White people with
Dreadlocks,
New tattoos and part-time beards and
Piercings.
People clutching the
Lonely Planet or the
Rough Guide,
Following exactly, the same, route.
People with tee-shirts,
Vests,
Hats,
Beads,
Leather tags,
Fridge magnets;
All swarming the earth like a plague taking photo after photo after photo
(Too many photographs of monkeys)
In the name of increasing an already inflated sense of self.
Please understand.
It’s only a
Holiday.
Eddie Joyce lives in Birmingham and went on a very long holiday last year and actually had a very nice time.

I love the sentiments you express in this piece; it’s only short but you pack a real punch in not very many words!

Nice Ed, extended haiku. Love the metaphoric alliteration of the vogonity of the piece :)
