Under coats of resentment
Dissatisfaction is well worn
Behind burrowed brows
Smiles dying to be born.
Stiff upper lips quiver
But told they cannot break
In a propped up Prozac nation
Zombies roam half awake.
As heads fill with trivia
And titillating distractions
Real feelings smothered
Before they’re lost in action.
Hearts are buried deep
In treasured chests they lay
Where love is hibernating
Fear comes out to play.
Vulnerability wrapped up tight
In angry armoured coats
Even with heavy baggage
On seeds of hope we float.
